About Me
Thanks for stopping by. I am a published researcher and R developer who enjoys creating bespoke workflows and analyses to help others leverage their data. I work at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland as an Economist and Data Scientist.
I currently manage the data workflow and analysis for the Global Innovation Index (GII)—WIPO’s flagship report and the preeminent indicator used for national innovation benchmarking. Among my projects, I have planned and delivered a cloud-based, batched data pipeline through MariaDB and AWS RDS. I have also developed automated output processes, including economy briefs and profiles. Additional details can be found in my CV.
I received my PhD from the University of California, Davis, where I specialized in energy and environmental economics, econometrics, and industrial organization. My dissertation focused on: the effects of COVID on commercial activity using real-time electricity data; public ownership in wholesale electricity markets; and, grandfathering provisions in the Clean Air Act.
Keep up with my R tinkering in my blog and presentations in talks. When I’m not coding, you can find me in the mountains hiking and mountain biking.
